WAR SERVICE

<s> MEN FROM 41 TO 46 YEARS BALLOT CALL NEXT MONTH. NO INDICATION OF DATE OF ENTERING CAMP. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The names of all married men with children who have attained the age of 41 but not 46 years, together with the inflow into the General Reserve since the previous ballot, will appear in a ■'Gazette” calling them for military service, to be issued on December 22. This will mean that, as at that date, all men in the First and Second divisions of the General Reserve will have been called up, leaving for future ballots only those becoming eligible from time to time because of their attaining the age of eighteen years, or for other reasons. The number involved will be approximately 31,000. Announcing this, the Minister of Manpower, Mr McLagan) stated that the War Cabinet had directed the calling up of the remaining classes of men so that their medical grading and eligibility for military service could be defined. This will enable the men and their employers to make any adjustments which may be necessary and will also supply the Army authorities with particulars of the numbers which will be available from these classes. At the present time no indication can be given of the date when these men will be required to enter camp.
