GENERAL ALEXANDER'S REPORT OUR TROOPS ADVANCING INTO CYRENAICA. MR CHURCHILL GIVES FACTS IN COMMONS. LONDON, November 11. A large part of a. speech by Air ('hurcliill in the House of Commons was devoted to a description of the victory of the Eighth Army in Egypt, lie said General Alexander had reported that 59,000 Ger- ' mans and Italians had been killed, wounded or taken prisoner (35,000 Germans and 24.000 Italians). Our losses in killed and wounded were 13,600 officers and men, of whom 5S per cent were from the United Kingdom. Our troops, the Prime Minister stated, were now advancing into Cyrenaica. HUGE TASK COLLECTING PRISONERS AND BOOTY. AIR AND LAND OPERATIONS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day. 10.15 a.m.) RUGBY, November 11. A Middle East communique states: “Our forces yesterday, advancing along the coast road, drove the enemy from Sidi Barrani and engaged his rearguard at Bugbug. The huge task of collecting prisoners and enemy equipment is being continued. “Our heavy and medium bombers on Monday night attacked transport concentrated around Solium. An air combat was fought ovei- Tobruk yesterday, in which two enemy fighters were destroyed. Our torpedo aircraft on Monday night attacked naval units in the Central Mediterranean. Two hits are claimed on a cruiser. Aerodromes in Sardinia were also attacked.
“Four of our planes are missing from these operations.”
