SALE OF WORK
ST. MATTHEW’S LADIES’ GUILD. A RECORD SUCCESS. The Y.M.C.A. Gymnasium presented a busy scene yesterday at the annual sale of work organised by St. Matthew’s Ladies’ Guild. There were large crowds present both in the morning and afternoon, and all the stalls did good business. Great credit is due to the president of the Guild, Mrs E. J. Rich, and to the hon. secretary, .Mrs J. M. Aikman, for the perfect organisation. The receipts amount to £242 2s Id, a record success, and almost double the best previous sale of work. The Ven. Archdeacon Rich last evening expressed his appreciation of the magnificent support given by parishioners, and thanked the stall-holders and all who had assisted them. The church was gratful also to the Y.M.C.A. for the use of their building. The competitions were won as follows: —Cake, Miss C. Lambert; iris, Mrs Ray; tea, Mrs Birch; tatting, Miss M. Parker; bag, Mrs G. Barr; diriner, Mrs Torrance; rocking horse, Mrs H. Kellian.
The following were the stall-holders: Savoury stall, Miss Brown, Mesdames Ramsay and Emery; jumble stall, Mesdames Sutherland and Kingdon; produce stall, Mesdames Birch, Borthwick, Deans, H. B. Maunsell and Ramsden; cake stall, Mesdames Alexander, Hill and L. Blatchford; work stall, Mesdames Hatch, Carpenter, Rich, Thompson, Miss Creswell; fireside circle, Misses Hale and McEwen; Sunday school, Miss Brown, Mrs Edwards; flower stall, Mesdames Skeet ,Moser, Misses Perry, B. Ronaldson, C. Kingdon; dinner, Mrs Gerrand; tea rooms, Mesdames Thomas, Jones, Jaine, Clarke, Aikman and Miss J. Gray.
