STATE THEATRE

“TO THE SHORES OF TRIPOLI." Not many motion pictures this year will be as popular with New Zealand audiences as "To the Shores of Tripoli,’’ which will be shown at the State Theatre tonight. The reason for its attraction is simple: it is a story of the United States MarineCorps, from the first line of whose battle hymn, “From the halls of Montezuma to the-shores of Tripoli.” the title is taken. It is a pre-war story, and there is no bloodshed in it, but it breathes the fighting spirit and fine traditions of the Marine Corps, which is so much in the news today. John Payne, Maureen O’Hara, Randolph Scott, and Nancy Kelly are the stars, and the picture is in technicolour. It is a picture which particular patrons should not fail to see as it contains everything that goes to make up high grade entertainment. Unusually good supporting films are shown, including "The Battle of Madagascar,’/ . telling the story of Britain's strategic move.
