CARTERTON
ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS LOYAL HEART OF OAK LODGE. (“Times-Age” Special.) P.G. Bro. H. J. Rathbone presided over the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge of Odd Fellows. One member declared on the sick funds of the lodge. It was reported that messages had been' received from Bros. A. R. Tankersley, M. M. W. Meyer and M. A. Meyer, all of whom were fit and well, and also from Bro A. R. Steffert, who is a prisoner of war in Germany and who sent best wishes to members of the lodge. Sick pay totalling £8 6s 8d was ordered to be paid. Officers for the ensuing term will be nominated at the next meeting of the lodge. BOWLING SUCCESSFUL PAIRS TOURNEY. Twenty-eight entries were received for a progressive pairs tournament played yesterday on the Carterton green, which was in excellent order and played well. A most enjoyable time was spent, the winners being members of the Featherston Club, Messrs Talbot (lead), 5 wins, 1 loss, and J. Thompson (skip), 6 wins. Personal Items. Official advice has been received by Mrs J. B. Brickell, Kent Street, Carterton, that her son, Private Burnett Brickell, is a prisoner of war in Italy. Aircraftman C. Baynes, who is suffering from a severe eye malady and has been an inmate of the Christchurch Hospital, has been transferred to the Wellington Hospital for further treatment. Mrs C. Baynes has returned from a short visit to Christchurch.
