GREYTOWN

PLUNKET SOCIETY SUCCESSFUL SHOP DAY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The shop day recently held by the Plunket Society realised the sum of £25 7s 9d, which was a very fine effort. The cake competitions were won as follows: Mr O. Peterson 1; Mrs Duncum 1, Noel Stunnell 2. The Christmas dinner will not be drawn until December 23. The society wish to thank all who contributed towards this effort.

FAREWELL GATHERING

TWO PRESENTATIONS. \ Members of the local ladies’ hockey team assembled on Tuesday evening to farewell Mr and Mrs G. Maloney, who are leaving the district, and Miss M. Keltie, who has ben selected for V.A.D. work overseas. The time was pleasantly spent in games and competitions, followed by supper.

In making a presentation to Mr and Mrs Maloney on behalf of the team, Miss Keltie thanked them for their services 1o the club and to hockey generally during their residence in Greytown. Mr Maloney suitably replied, thanking the ladies for their co-opera-tion at all times.

Opportunity was taken to hand Miss Keltie a monetary gift in token of the club's appreciation of her services as secretary for a number of years. The team expressed the wish that she would enjoy her visit overseas and that she would soon be able to resume her normal life among them. Personal Items. Mrs K. Tegg, Palmerston North, is visiting Mrs E. Richards, McMaster Street. Miss Rewa Lorigan, of Hastings, who has been the guest of Mrs E. Richards, McMaster Street, returned home today. Mrs J. Stringfellow, Main Street, is spending a holiday at Raumati Beach.

TOWN HALL “HOLD THAT GHOST.” One of the most laughter-producing pictures ever brought to the screen, "Hold That Ghost,” will be shown at the Town Hall tomorrow afternoon and evening. In it Bud Abbott and Lou Costello have plenty of scope for. their talents. The supporting picture is “In the Navy,” with Joan Davis, Richard Carlson and Mischa Auer in outstanding comedy roles.
