SERVICE CLUB ENJOYABLE EUCHRE PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) At a very enjoyable euchre party held at the Service Club the winners were: Mrs Watson, 1; Mrs O’Neale and Mrs Kinsey (equal), 2. A competition was won by Mrs Lowell. Red Cross Society. The pullover which was donated by Mrs H. Houghton to the Red Cross Society, was won by Mrs A. Peene. Nev/ Ration Books. An extra member of the Post Office staff has been stationed at the counter for the purpose of expediting the issue of the new ration books to the public, thus avoiding congestion in other sections of post office business owing to a depleted staff. It is rather discour--1 aging to those responsible that the public generally do not take advantage of the extra service which has been provided for their benefit. Should they not soon call in and obtain their new ration books it would appear that at a later date they will have a tiresome wait. P. and T. Hours. On Monday (Labour Day) the Post and Telegraph Department, Featherston, will be closed in all branches with the exception of the telephone exchange, which will remain open as usual. The Featherston-Tauherenikau and Featherston-Whangaimoana rural deliveries will be suspended. Personal. Miss Doreen Lowell, Featherston, who spent the weekend with Mrs Lockwood. Austin Street, Wellington, has returned home.
COSY THEATRE “SOUTH OF TAHITI.”
Tomorrow night’s excellent programme at the Cosy Theatre will bo headed by the brilliant drama, “South of Tahiti,” in which the leading roles are taken by Maris Montiz, Brian Donlevy and Broderick Crawford. The associate picture is “Three Jacks and a Jill,” an outstanding comedy featuring Ray Bolger and Ann Shirley.
