CHRISTIAN ORDER

WOMEN’S OPPORTUNITY

TO PARTICIPATED CAMPAIGN.

ADDRESS TO LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.

There was a very large attendance of members and friends at the monthly meeting of the League of Mothers held, in the Methodist Hall yesterday afternoon.

Mrs L. B. Maunsell presided. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Corskie, Baillie, Hope and Carmine. , It was announced that “Fathers Night” would be held in the Knox Hall on Wednesday, November 18. Mrs J. T. Holland, of Lower Hutt, was the speaker at the meeting and referred to the Campaign for Christian Order, particularly from the viewpoint of women's opportunity in the campaign. Briefly, Mrs Holland traced the life of woman from her creation, through the history of the Old Testament, and showed how her real emancination came with Jesus Christ and His teachings. Women were often prone to go from one household activity to another, with little thought of what they might contribute to the woila outside. The object of the campaign was to make women think, learn and build—“ Think” to see their objective, “Learn” to achieve their objective and “Build” to reach their objective. “For too long now have avc been living on the capital of the contributions or Christian women of the past,. said the speaker. “Now with the evidence ol the collapse of so many homes and so many nations, it behoves women the world over to apply Christ’s teachings, first in their own lives and homes and then in every relationship with the world outside.” At the conclusion of her address, Mis Holland invited a discussion, the offer being eagerly accepted. Mrs Maunsell thanked Mrs Holland for her very thought-provoking and inspiring address. , Mrs Speight rendered a pianoforte solo, and Mrs Snowsill and Mrs Traynor two vocal duets. The tea hostesses were Mesdames Graham, Barr, Clarkson, Smith, Jaine, Bull, Day and Renner.
