RONGOKOKAKO

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Rongokokako Women’s Institute was hold in the local hall, when Mrs W. J. O’Neil presided over a fair attendance. Mrs K. Falkner gave a very inter; csting demonstration on knitting and fancy work stitches. A skill competition was won by Mrs M. Morriss. One new member was enrolled. A collection was taken up for the Makogai Leper Fund. A few articles of clothing were handed in for refugees.

The competitions for the month resulted as follows: —Three tarts: Mrs K. Falkner, 1; Miss D. Nagel and Mrs F. Goggin, 2. Flowers (large): Mrs S. Smith, 1; Miss D. Nagel, 2; (small), Miss U. Payne, 1; Mrs S. Malton, 2. Mesdames K. Falkner and H. Winter were appointed as delegates to the half-yearly council meeting to be held at Eketahuna on October 29. ' A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Falkner and Mrs Baucke, the judges of the competition. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs B. Morriss and Mrs JDavis.
