The chairman reported that £1022 3s 6d had been collected for the All Purposes Appeal.

Mr Horton stated that he considered that the results were most satisfactory, considering the trying time the district had been through. He thought that the district had responded very well.

The executive decided to recommend that the. appeal be closed. Mr Hayman wrote asking if some arrangement could be made for a meeting place for soldiers’ wives who visited Greytown. It was decided that the ladies’ rest room open on Sundays. It was resolved that approximately 80 parcels be sent to the local soldiers overseas and that an appeal be made for home-made biscuits.

TOWN HALL “IT’S A GRAND OLD WORLD.”

The famous comedian, Sandy Powell is at his best in “It’s a Grand Old World,” which will be shown at the Town Hall tonight. The picture is one of the funniest ever brought to the screen and will keep the audience in screams of laughter. The associate picture, “King of the Sierras,” is a story of’the' last round-up of the wild mustangs, with Rex and Sheik ~the wonder horses, very much in the limelight.
