NURSING SERVICES

SHOULD EE CHARGE ON SOCIAL SECURITY.

WAIRARAPA HOSPITAL BOARD’S MOVE.

The matter of fees received for district nursing services was considered and in view of the fact that in practically all cases patients were in indigent circumstances, it was decided, at today’s meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital Board, to make application to the Department of Health to have fees payable for district nursing services made a charge against the Social Security funds.

‘ ft is a perfectly just proposal," said the chairman. Mr H. H. Mawley. “People .are asking why they should be asked to pay district nursing fees when they subscribe for Social Security. If the Social Security Department pays towards the cost of ordinary patients, why should it not pay something towards district nursing services? The same argument stands.” Mr A. Forsberg: “It will be a cheaper proposition for the Social Security Department.” Mrs S. Fletcher: “I don't think we will get it.”
