Mr H. J. Brass, district manager for the Australian Mutual Provident Society, Masterton, is at present visiting Hastings.
The death occurred at the Wellington Hospital yesterday of Signalman Victor Cornelius Narbey, son of Mrs and the late Mr Con Narbey, of Pahiatua, at the age of 22 years. Miss R. G. Bradley, of the Wairarapa College staff, has accepted a position with the Correspondence School, Wellington, and. will leave Masterton on Saturday next to take up her new duties. Advice has been received in Masterton that Private Harold Dixon, of the W.F.C.A., Ltd. staff, Masterton, and Private Fred Wilton, of Messrs T. Borthwick & Son, Ltd., Waingawa, who were reported missing after’ the recent severe fighting in Egypt, are safe, but prisoners of war. As a token of esteem and in appreciation of the assistance received from her in connection with the entertainments, the members of Mrs Miller Hope’s concert party made Mrs Hope a presentation at. a recent social gathering. Miss F. Bellis (secretary), referring in eulogistic terms to Mrs Miller Hope’s patriotic work. Roys, Solway Crescent Masterton (f). Private H. A. Stimpson; Mrs M. Stimpson, 89 Villa Street, Masterton (m).
