The following official weather report and forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:— DISTRICT FORECAST: Strong and gusty north-westerly winds, changing to freshening westerlies by tomorrow. • Weather cloudy, probably with drizzle, chiefly in the ranges. Temperatures mild, but cooler tomorrow. FURTHER OUTLOOK: Changeable, with a few scattered showers. LOCAL REPORT. Mr H. M. Boddington reports that 25 points of rain fell at Solway during the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. today. Mr N. W. Towns reports as follows for the 24 hours ended 8 a.m. today:— Shade temperature, maximum 74.1, minimum 58.2; terrestrial, 52; rain, 29 points. PHASES OF THE MOON. OCTOBER. Full moon, October 24. Draw blinds at 7.15 p.m.; raise them at 4.54 a.m. tomorrow. v
