Frost in Masterton.
A frost of 7.4 degrees was registered in Masterton yesterday morning.
Earthquakes in Masterton. Three slight earthquakes were felt in Masterton about one o’clock on Sunday morning.
Wool Appraisal. The Pahiatua central branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union at an executive meeting has unanimously passed a motion expressing disapproval of the ' action of the Minister of Agriculture in retaining a further 5 per cent of the proceeds of the wool appraised during the current season.
Special Youth Service. A special youth service was held at the Masterton Methodist Sunday School yesterday afternoon in furtherance of the Campaign for Christian Order. The churches represented were the Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, Associated Churches of Christ and the Salvation Army. A feature of the gathering was the combined group studies. After tea, an address was given by Adjutant W. B. Stone, of the Salvation Army, on “Fighting the Battle.” The Sunday School room was crowded. Christian Order. The Campaign for Christian Order was featured at all Masterton churches yesterday, when sermons appropriate to the occasion were delivered at the various churches. The subject for combined preaching in the morning was “Is Sin a Myth?” and in the evening “Faith —the Difference it Makes.” Large congregations were recorded. At St. Matthew’s the morning service, at which the Girl Guides were present, was taken by the Rev. H. Taepa and the evening service was conducted by the Vicar, the Ven Archdeacon E. J. Rich.
