GALLANT MALTA
113 ENEMY AIRCRAFT DESTROYED IN LITTLE OVER WEEK. EIGHT SHOT DOWN ON SATURDAY LONDON, October 18. For over a week Malta has been fighting back against the new Axis air offensive and in that time 113 enemy planes have been destroyed. Eight of that number were accounted for in yesterday's raids, when most of the raiders were intercepted before they reached the island and were forced to drop their bombs into the sea. The damage on the island was slight.
