WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING AT KAHUTARA. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute was held at Kahutara, Mrs Elbe presiding over a fair attendance of members. Mesdames Playle and Pottinger were appointed delegates to attend the meeting of the council of the Wairarapa Federation. It was decided to hold a dance in aid of the wool and parcel fund. The competitions were won as follows: —Best piece of embroidery, Mrs Elbe 1, Mrs Duffy 2. Best bloom, Mrs Elbe 1, Mrs Pottinger 2. . Mrs Pope gave the thought for the day. The hostesses were Mesdames Pope and Elbe. Personal Items. Mrs Juno is visiting friends at Silvers (.ream. Mrs Norman, Mrs Moore (Wellington) and Mr and Mrs Connor (Lower Hutt.) are the guests of Mrs L. McKenna, Pahautea. Mr and Mrs L. McKenna. Pahautea, have received word from their son, Flight-Sergeant D. McKenna, that he is safe and well. Bowling Club. The Featherston Bowling Club will officially open its season tomorrow. Rinks from neighbouring clubs are expected to be present. As the green is in perfect condition a good playing season is anticipated.

League of Mothers. The monthly meeting of the League of Mothers was held yesterday, Mrs Arch. Clark presiding ovei- a fair attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames T. Hardie, F. Bladen, J. G. McKenzie, E. Wakley, F. Staples and G. Brandon. Mrs W. Barton read extracts from interesting letters received from her daughter, Miss Elspeth Barton, who is matron in charge of a soldiers' hostel in the Middle East. Afternoon tea was provided by Mesdames Arch. Clark, Byers and Staples. Mesdames Neilsen, Fellingham and Kilsby were the hostesses. War Time Service. A citizens’ united service will be held in the Town Hall on Sunday evening, commencing at 7 o’clock. The speaker will be the Rev. J. R. Higgs, who will speak on the campaign for Christian Order. COSY THEATRE “HIT PARADE OF 1941.” The brilliant musical show, “The Hit Parade cf 1941,” will be shown tonight, featuring Frances Langford, Hugh Herbert, Mary Moland, Patsy Kelly and Kenny Baker. The associate picture is Tim Holt’s best western effort, “Dude Cowboy,” in which Marjorie Remolds is also featured.
