SERVICE CLUB ENJOYABLE EUCHRE PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a fair attendance at the euchre party held at the Service Club on Tuesday night, when a most enjoyable time was spent. Mrs McKenna and Mrs Charles were the winners at cards. A competition was won by Mrs A. W. Edwards. Golf. The lady members of the local golf club played a 9-hole eclectic handicap on the Gumgrove links yesterday afternoon. The best cards were: Mrs Lowe 1, Mrs Elbe 2, Mrs Batchelor 3. Personal Items. Miss Lynskey, who has been visiting Mrs R. Charles, Hayward Street, has returned to her home in Stratford. The funeral of the late Mrs J. P. Bimler took place at Featherston yesterday afternoon. The services at the house and the graveside were conducted by the Rev. H. Bloomfield. The pall-bearers were Messrs R. Smith (Christchurch), W. Fay les (White Rock), G. Farrier, A. Hodder, W. Fellingham and R. Kelly. Mrs Bimler leaves two sons, Messrs Roy and Robert Bimler, ana one aaugfiter.

EXCELLENT DOUBLE BILL.

Tomorrow night patrons of the Cosy Theatre will have presented to them an excellent double programme in keeping with the high standard of pictures set by the management, who make a specialty of securing only the best. “The Hit Parade of 1941” is one of the brightest and most entertaining musical comedies seen in recent years. The chief roles are in the hands of Francis Langford, Hugh Herbert, Mary Boland, Patsy Kelly and Kenny Baker. The associate picture, “Dude Cowboy.’ provides Tim Holt and Marjorie Reynolds with plenty, of opportunities to effectively use their talents.
