FRUIT TREES SUFFER RESULT OF SOUTHERLY GALE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Fruit trees again suffered severely as the result of the southerly gale on Monday. Potatoes and other growing vegetables are also showing the effects of the storm.
Shearing and Docking. Docking operations are _ just , about completed and the shearing of dry sheep was to have begun this week, but the recent rain has delayed the work.
Sea Lion on Whangaimona Beach. A sea lion has. been seen on the Whangaimona Beach during the past fortnight. Several people have had a close view of thci visitor, but generally when alarmed he makes a laborious trek for the ocean.
Racehorse Owner’s Loss. Mr J. McDonald was a heavy loser at the recent Otaki races when his horse Saint Tor fell, broke a shouldei and had to be destroyed. Saint Tor had won several sprint races and was considered a colt of considerable promise. __
