SWAMPED BY R.A.F. BOMBERS IN POWERFUL NIGHT ATTACK NINE BRITISH AIRCRAFT LOST. THREE AXIS PLANES SHOT DOWN IN BAY OF BISCAY. LONDON, October 14. A strong force of R.A.F. bombers raided the German naval base of Kiel last night. It was Kiel’s seventieth and heaviest raid of the war. The weather was good and the attack was a concentrated one. Pilots describe the defences as being swamped. Nine planes are missing.

Yesterday Beaufighters shot down three enemy planes in the Bay of Biscay—two Junkers 88s and a flyingboat, None of the attacking Beaufighters were lost. The Army Co-operation Command yesterday attacked a goods train and other targets in Northern France, also without loss.

Two enemy planes bombed a town on the south-east coast of England, causing some damage. They were chased out to sea.
