HIGH LOSSES
GERMAN SUBALTERNS RECRUITMENT OF YOUNG ILLITERATES. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) NEW YORK, October 11. The Stockholm correspondent of the “New York Times” says that exceptionally high losses of German subalterns, plus fears for the morale of the army in the forthcoming winter, inspired Hitlei’ to issue an ordinance today enabling any illiterate but reliable young Nazi to become an officer. Emphasis in the ordinance on loyalty to the National Socialist Party and its leaders indicates that officers henceforth will be recruited from among tough Nazi [youngsters whose main qualificatons I are the party ticket and vocal worship of Hitler.
