VICTORIA CROSS AWARD TO BRITISH TANK OFFICER IN LIBYA: Captain P. J. Gardner, Royal Tank Regiment, British Royal Armoured Corps, who won the Military Cross in Libya, has now been awarded the V.C. His complete disregard for his own safety enabled him, despite wounds and in the face of intense close-range fire, to save the life of a fellow-officer in circumstances of great difficulty and danger.
