Mr William Morrison, a well-known resident of Pahiatua, died on Saturday, at the age of 88 years.
Sergeant G. London, Mayor of Petone, previously reported missing, is now known to be a prisoner of war.
The death occurred at Featherston yesterday of Mrs Jean Bimler, relict of Mr D. G. Bimler, formerly of White Rock Station, Martinborough, at the age of 61 years. Information has bene received that Dr. John Donald Campbell Duncan, Government Balneologist at Rotorua, died at Mount Maunganui,. near Tauranga on Saturday, a Wellington Press Association message states. Mr E. L. S. Taylor, senior telegraphist at the Palmerston North Post Office, has been promoted to the position of supervisor at Carterton, and Mr B. Tucker, of the Eketahuna staff, has been promoted to supervisor and transferred to Foxton.
