BIBLE SOCIETY — < ANNUAL MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the British and Foreign Bible Society held in St. Luke’s Hall, Mrs Maddison presiding. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mrs Maddison (re-elected); vice-presidents, Mesdames Johnson, York, Knowles-Smith, Bull, Misses Tate, Oates, and the ministers of the town; secretary, Miss I. Wiggins (re-elected). A much appreciated solo was sung by Mrs Farley. Mrs V. Wakelin, organising secretary, spoke on the activities of the Society, and congratulated the collectors on the splendid amount (£22 Os 3d) collected. Afternoon tea was provided. GIRL GUIDES ANNUAL MEETING OF COMMITTEE The annual meeting of the Greytown Girl Guides' Committee was held on Wednesday at the residence of the president (Mrs J. F. Thompson). The Guide Captain (Mrs G. R. Jury) and Brown Owl (Mrs M. Greathead) presented their annual reports and were cdngratulated by the president in connection therewith. The election of officers resulted as follows; —President, Mrs J. 'F. Thompson; secretary. Miss I. Wiggins; committee, Mesdames Bayliss, Carter, Horton, Johnson, Pope, Svenson, Wiggins, Dewhurst, Nisbet, Orr, A. Nichols, McPhee, Reid, Burns and York; delegates to the Central Council. Mesdames Thompson, Johnson and the secretary. Mrs Jury stated that the Guide Company had assisted in many patriotic activities and had topped the South Wairarapa list with the recent drive for rags. They were prepared to assist with, a waste paper and rubber collection. Sympathy was expressed, with JVlrs Horton in her illness. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Thompson, who was thanked for her hospitality. TOWN HALL “WHEN LADIES MEET.” A brilliant comedy-drama, “When Ladies Meet,” will be shown tonight at the Town Hall, with the leading roles in the hands of Greer Garson, Joan Crawford, Robert Taylor, Spring Byington and Herbert Marshall. ______________
