THE FISHING SEASON FAVOURABLE PROSPECTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Prospects in connection with the fishing season in the Carterton district are favourable. The streams and rivers are in good fishing condition and anglers are looking forward to good catches. ■—l Broadway Street. The footpath on the eastern side of Broadway Street has been graded and preparations are being made to tar seal the thoroughfare. When finished the main entrance to the town from the railway will be one of the best roads in the borough. Personal Items. Mrs C. Lorenzen, of Seddon Street, Carterton, has received a cable message from her son, Rupert, who is in the Middle East, saying that he is fit and well. The residents of the Parkvale district will entertain Aircraftman Cadwallader at a social gathering in the Parkvale Hall tonight. Aircraftman J. W. Warrington, who met with an accident while playing football in* Wellington, has been discharged from hospital and is now at home in Carterton. He is able to get about on a crutch. Mr and Mrs J. Petersen, of Wellington, .are spending a holiday in the Carterton district, and are at present staying with their son at Belvedere. The engagement is announced of Vena, second daughter of Mr and Mrs D. G. Knowles, Matarawa, to Dougas McKenzie, Second N.Z.E.F., son of Mr and Mrs T. McKenzie, Clareville, Carterton. Swimming Baths. The caretaker of the Carterton Municipal swimming baths has been busy during the week freshening up the buildings, .etc., with paint. The baths have been cleaned out and next week water will be turned in from the borough supply. Dismantling of Fire Station. A commencement was made this morning by members of the Carterton Volunteer Fire Brigade with the work of dismantling the earthquake-damaged Fire Station.
