MANY HAVE TO WORK IN WAR TIME. ON FARMS OR AT SOMETHING ELSE USEFUL. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.0 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 29. “American school children may have to work four or five hours daily at farm work or something else useful,” said the Director of Selective Service, Mr Hereshey, at a conference on manpower. He added: “The civilian population has not gone to war yet. I do not want to hurt education, but the education of children may have to be confined.”
