FATE OF THE DESTROYER OTTAWA SUNK AFTER FOUR DAYS OF BATTLE. EXHAUSTED MEN SLIP FROM RAFTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.50 a.m.) OTTAWA, September 27. The Canadian destroyer Ottawa, whose loss was announced on September 21, sank after a four-day running battle with a submarine pack, whicn attacked a convoy in mid-Atlantic. Survivors stated that many of the crew, fatigued by the long fight, supped to their death from rafts. The Ottawa carried 22 British seamen rescued from a torpedoed merchantman. Of the 189 men aboard the destroyer only 76 were saved.
