DOLEFUL VIEW
OF SECOND FRONT PROSPECT TAKEN BY WASHINGTON CORRESPONDENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.30 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 25. The “Wall Street Journal’s” Washington correspondent says two developments raise questions as to whether a second front will be possible even in 1943. Firstly, United States war production lags behind schedule. The Army and Navy months ago told the War Production Board what was needed for a second front. The War Production Board reported that production was behind schedule in June, July and August. Therefore some officials doubt whether second front material will be ready by the spring of 1943. Secondly, a stalemate on the Eastern front would redouble the task of opening a Western front.
