FINANCIAL AID
AVAILABLE TO WOMEN
SERVING IN ARMED FORCES.
ON SAME FOOTING AS MEN.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Minister in Charge of the Soldiers’ Financial Assistance Board, Mr Armstrong, announces a decision to widen the scope of the board’s assistance to enable women recruited by the W.W.S.A. for full-time service in the armed forces to apply for assistance. This means that women in the armed services will be placed on exactly the same footing as men in regard to assistance by the board. Assistance will be granted towards meeting necessary reasonable and current commitments which cannot be met from military pay. No assistance will be granted towards commitments of a luxury type, or towards payments on account of debts existing at the time of enlistment.
