WATERWORKS RESERVE
POSSIBILITY OF PLANTING BY BOROUGH.
MATTER FOR CONSIDERATION.
The planting of the waterworks reserve was suggested by the Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, at last night’s meeting of the Masterton Borough Council, when the council was advised by the Town Clerk. Mr G. T. O’Hara Smith, that the lease of the area would terminate on November
14. The engineer, Mr C. R. Mabson, said one of the council’s waterworks employees should live on the area. . The Mayor, Mr T. Jordan, said he had often thought that the area could very well be planted by the borough, with a view to becoming valuable in the future. .The area was about .a acres and the rental was £3l per year. Councillor W. Kemp said the eng meer was correct when he said that one of the council's own men should live on the property, with an area oi about five acres available for Ins use. He moved accordingly. This was agreed to. ..... Mr Jordan said he would lise councillors to consider whether it would be advisable to plant the area in trees. Councillor C. E. Grey said planting of trees was an admirable idea and one that should prove a good investment.
