At the monthly meeting of the Pahautea branch of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, Mrs Ross presided over a good attendance.x Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Welch, Parker, McKay, Hubbard and Miss Frew. Next month's birthday celebrations were discussed and it was decided to hold a social gathering. It was reported that twelve parcels had been forwarded to local soldiers overseas. The competitions were won as follows:—Best article costing not more than one shilling, Mrs Sadler. Flowers, Mrs Sadler 1, Mrs Grant and Mrs Beattie (equal) 2. The hostesses were Mesdames Hector and Bargh. Miniature Rifles. The following were the scores in a competition held by the Featherston Miniature Rifle. Club:—K. McKenzie 100. L. Rasmussen 99, J. H. Buck 96, A. Cook, Mrs Nimmo 95, A. McKenzie, Mrs Rasmussen 94, L. Halpin 91, K. Feast, E. Foster, D. Sim, D. Feast 90, N. McNamara, Mrs Symons 88, J. Marshall 85. G. White 83.
Euchre Party. An enjoyable time was spent at the euchre party held in the Red Cross Society's rooms yesterday afternoon. The winners were Mrs Baker and Mrs Rasmussen. The competition winners were: Mrs Chas. Rae (who handed her prize back) and Mrs Rasmussen. Donations were received from Mesdames C. Price, F. White, A. Viles, R. Watson.
