WAIRARAPA COLLEGE

MEETING OF GOVERNORS. INSPECTORS VISITING SCHOOL. Tire monthly meeting of the Wairarapa College Board of Governors was held last night, the chairman, Mr W. R. Nicol, presiding. It was decided to inform the Y.M.C.A. Ladies’ Auxiliary that the board was unable to provide a free tea for members of the services, as it was a matter for individual effort and the board could not expend Government funds for that purpose. The Masterton Free Kindergarten Association was given permission to use the Assembly Hall on October 10 from 2 to 5.30 p.m., provided the hall was not required for other purposes. The farm committee’s report was received. Action was deferred pending other members of the board being supplied with copies, the report to be discussed at the next meeting. It was decided to send letters of thanks and appreciation to Mr L. Connolly and to D. Wilmshurst and P. Easthope, two pupils of the college, for their assistance with the sheep during the recent holidays. The secretary, Mr H. M. Boddington, was asked to obtain prices for a cool chamber at the hostel.

The Acting Principal, Mr F. J. Gair, reported that Misses Hetherington and McKenzie and Messrs Hynes, Henderson and Wild, inspectors, were making an official visit to the college.
