BOWLING
MASTERTON PARK CLUB.
SMALL GREEN OPENED FOR PLAY
Saturday proved a perfect day for the commencement ,of bowling on the small green, which, after a week’s intensive preparation, together with a drying wind, played remarkably well, and was keener than was anticipated. Between twenty and thirty members availed themselves of the opportunity for a “roll up,” and the green was fully taxed throughout the afternoon. The guest of the afternoon was the president of an Invercargill club.
The large gathering of onlookers was treated to some really good bowling, whilst others enjoyed a game of cards in the pavilion. Two old stalwarts of the club prepared afternoon tea, which was thoroughly enjoyed. Many favourable comments were passed on the appearance of both greens, and with a continued spell of mild weather the greens should be in excellent condition for the official opening early next month.
