FIERCE FIGHTING CONTINUES.

SOME DETAILS OF ENEMY LOSSES.

(British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 1 p.m.) RUGBY, September 20. Tonight’s Soviet communique states: ■‘Our troops today engaged the enemy in fierce fighting in the Stalingrad region and in the Mosdok area. There are no important changes elsewhere. During’ the week ended on Saturday 300 German planes were destroyed.” A supplementary communique adds that in the Stalingrad area the enemy was thrown back in several sectors and that a number of places were recaptured by the Russians, who destroyed a number of guns, vehicles and machine-guns. An enemy attack by tommy-gunners was destroyed, while a German attempt to outflank the Russian forces failed. Fierce fighting continues in the Mosdok area. A company of enemy infantry here were disposed of by Russian cavalry.
