WELLINGTON AIRMAN
AWARDED DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Official advice has been received that the Distinguished Flying Cross has been awarded to Flight Lieutenant Henry Neil Blundell, R.N.Z.A.F,, of Wellington. When the award was made Flight-Lieutenant Blundell was serving in the Middle East and _. was’ engaged on his second operational tour. In his first operational tour, carried ottt in the United Kingdom, he took pa’tt in. more than thirty operations over the Continent, including raids on Kiel, Cologne . and Hamburg He also' saw ( touch action m sortibs over both Germany and France Born' in Wellington, in 1911, Flight Lieutenant Blundell., in 1939 beCatoe a member of the Wellington Territorial Squadron of the R.N.Z.A.F,, arid, was mobilised with that unit at the outbreak of war. He left for service with the R.A.F. early in 1940. Making rapid progress overseas,, he was promoted to flying officer in 1941 and to Flight Lieutenant in May this year.
