GIFTS OF BOOKS TO DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL. - (“Times-Age” Special.) The secondary department of the Eketahuna district high school acknowledges the gifts of sets of books for the library. Mr J. Hudson,- recently of Newman, has presented a set, numbering twenty-five books, of the Historian’s “History of the World,” a very fine gift, which is considered evidence of a community interest in the school. Other’ sets of standard authors have been presented by Mrs W. Curry, Miss Audrey Parker (staff) and Verna Cooper (pupil), considerably enriching the literary material at.the disposal of the pupils. Personal Items. Pte. and Mrs Leslie, who have been (he guests of Mr and Mrs G. Leslie, Hastwell Street, have left for Whangarei. Pte. and Mrs Phil Payne and Mr R. Payne, Waitara, are the guests of Mr and Mrs R. Payne, Alfredton Road. Mrs A. S. Carter, who had been on a visit to Wairoa, has returned home. The many friends of Mr C. Evans, Rongomai, will regret to learn that he is an inmate of the Pahiatua Hospital. Miss O’Connor, Wellington, is relieving Miss Dorset, district health nurse,' who is spending a holiday in Auckland.
