GREYTOWN
SCHOOL AFFAIRS MEETING OF COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Greytown District High School Committee there were present: Messrs H. G. Carter (chairman), F. Demies, R. C. O’Neale, W. Wiggins, Mrs Knell and the headmaster, Mr S. C. Shedden. The Education Board grant for the month of £l7 16s Id was received. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £4O Ils 6d. The headmaster reported that the present school roll was 313, which was the highest ever recorded in the histpry of the school. There had been 31.000 onion plants grown in the school plots. Messrs Carter and Demies were appointed school visitors for September. SERVICE TO HOCKEY PRESENTATION TO MR G. MALONEY. Members of certain hockey teams paid a surprise visit to Mr ,G. Maloney’s residence on Saturday, wnen S. M. Winks, on behalf of the teams, presented Mr Maloney with a set of hairbrushes and a comb in appreciation of the help given to the teams in the course of the season. Mr Maloney suitably replied, expressing the pleasure it had given him to be of service in this way. Personal. The Rev. G. Knowles-Smith and Mrs Smith have returned home after having spent a holiday in Wellington. TOWN HALL “WESTERN UNION.” At the Town Hall tonight there will be screened the noted Zane Grey drama of the wild 'west of America, “Western Union,” a beautiful mchnicolour offering. The picture features Robert Young, Slim Summerville, Randolph Scott and Virginia Gilmour.
