EKETAHUNA
COUNTY STAFF PRESENTATION TO MR J. P. JENSEN. (“Times-Age” Special.) On Friday evening last, Mr Jensen was entertained by members of the stall of the Eketahuna County Council on the eve of his retirement. Mr W. N. Richardson, County Clerk, presided over a large and representative gathering from all parts of tne county, and the time was spent in happy manner with a programme oi song'and story. In making a presentation of a set of carvers on behalf of the stall, to Mr -Jensen, Mr W. Dawson referred to the long and faithful service given by Mr Jensen and to the good fellowship which had always existed between the members of the staff. Other speakers spoke in a similar strain and wished Mr Jensen a long period of happy retirement. , . Mr Jensen thanked the members for their warm expressions of goodwill and said that he felt sorry at no longer being one of a body of good men. He expressed his satisfaction at retiring after a long period of service in which he had been fairly treated and in which he had treated no man unfairly. , ZM • Restoration of Chimneys. The Secretary to the Treasury wrote to the monthly meeting of the Eketahuna County Council advising that the Government had decided that in cases where the council considered hardship would be caused by claiming on the person concerned for the cost of the restoration of chimneys where chimneys had to be rebuilt a second time, the Government would meet portion of the amount involved. It was requested that schedules of the amounts 'nvolved be submitted to the Treasuiy showing the cost of the first and second restorations in each case, ana the amount of the grant recommended by the council.
