BOWLING

MASTERTON CLUB MEETING OF COMMITTEE. OPENING DAY OF SEASON FIXED. Mr, H. B. Thomas presided at a meeting of the’Committee of the Masterton Bowling Club. It was decided on the motion of Mr F. J. Roberts, seconded by Mr H. M. Morton, that the club was of opinion that the annual meeting of the Centre should be abandoned this year. .

The committee approved of the suggestion to hold a New Year's fours tournament and a veterans’ tournament. and that the Wairarapa Bowling Centre be written to accordingly. It was decided to forward letters of sympathy to Messrs J. Connell, W. R. Doughty, J. Maxwell and R. Z. Renall in their illnesses. Mr J. V. Gordon reported on the condition of the greens, and expressed the opinion that they would be in good order for the opening of the season. On the motion of Mr Roberts, seconded by Mr F. Mills, it was decided to open the season on October 10, and that invitations be sent to kindred clubs to attend. It was decided that the colts’ competition be conducted on the same lines as other club competitions, and that the -Labour Day tournament be carried out similarly to last season. Matters in connection with the veterans’ inter-club matches were held over until the next meeting of the committee. It was decided to obtain an honours board.
