SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED

(“Times-Age” Special.) The Mauriceville West Memorial Hall was packed on Friday night when the residents of the district entertained T-Sgt. M. Stinear, Dvr. Ivan Larsen, Pte. M. Godden, Gnr. K. Tildesley and Pte. J. Duncan. Mr A. Forsberg and Mr E. W. Cheetham, on behalf of the residents, made presentations to the guests and spoke of their popularity. Miss R. Mortensen, on behalf of the Women’s Institute, made a presentation to Dvr. Ivan Larsen. The recipients suitably replied. Te Tail’s Orchestra supplied muchappreciated music and extras were played by Mrs Gaskin and Mr Alan Larsen. Mrs I. McKay and partner won the Monte Carlo waltz. Mr H. C. Mortensen was M.C. Personal Items. Sgt. Stack has returned to Whangarei after having spent furlough here with his wife and family. Mr and Mrs A. Smart, Makuri, spent the weekend in Mauriceville West as the guests of Mr and Mrs A. Larsen. Mrs S. Pedersen, Te Uri, Ormondville, has returned home after having been the guest of Mrs V. K. Lemberg. Sgt. and Mrs Stinear are visiting realtives at Thames. Mr K. Palmer, Utiku, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr and Mrs R. Palmer. Mrs I. McKay, Tinui, spent the weekend with her parents, Mr and Mrs H. Trass.
