Mr and Mrs D. Buchanan, Lansdowne, have returned from a visit to Taranaki.
Mrs R. J. Barton. Pownall Street, Masterton, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs D. lorns, Eastbourne, has returned home.
Corporal H. W. Chadwick, of the R.N.Z.A.F., and Mrs Chadwick, are at present in Masterton, and are staying at Kent House, Colombo Road.
The death has occurred of Mr Herbert Sidney Moss, of Hastings. Born in Croydon, Sussex, England, in 1868. Mr Moss came to New Zealand in 1892, taking up land at Kimbolton, but, following disastrous bush fires which played havoc with his property, he gave up farming and tooK on accountancy. He was married in 1902 and a year later moved to Carterton, where he was secretary for various concerns, including the Wairarapa A. and P. Society, in which he held office for 13 years. In 1916 Mr Moss went to Hastings, where he was appointed secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club, a position which he held for 21 years. He leaves a wife and two sons, Mr Russell Moss, Napier, and Captain Kenneth Moss, New Zealand Dental Corps, overseas.
