Potato Ration. The daily ration of potatoes for men in the armed forces has been increased from 3oz. to 60z., reports a Press Association telegram from Christchurch. Speed of Army Vehicles. Though Army vehicles were, for obvious reasons, excluded from the recent legislation (aimed at conserving tyres) making it a civil offence to drive vehicles at a speed exceeding 40 miles an hour, a recent instruction issued by the Quartermaster-General states that such exception applies only in the event of a national emergency. Strict observation of the maximum speed limit laid down by the Army authorities for Army drivers of motor cars and motor cycles is required. The limit is the same as for civilian vehicles—4o miles an hour on roads.

He had yet another truck with a covering petrol licence, and though he traded in this vehicle he had not surrendered the licence and drew the petrol on it. Further, defendant had obtained a special licence for the vehicle which he had obtained at the trade in.
