U.S. MARINE CORPS BAND AT WANGANUI FINE IMPRESSION MADE BY VISITORS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, This Day. A United States Marine Corps band visited Wanganui over the week-end, and, given a chance officially and openly to' welcome representatives of the American forces, the town fairly let itself go. Twelve hundred, persons were present at a dance in a wool store on Saturday night, and a big crowd in Cook’s Gardens heard a performance by the band on Sunday afternoon. At the Sunday night concert hundreds were turned away. The Americans created a fine impression by their easy friendliness, and were given an enthusiastic farewell on the railway station today. As a result of their visit over £3OOO were raised for the patriotic funds.
