The death occurred at Khandallah recently of Mr S. K. B. McClung, formerly manager of the W.F.C.A. garage pt Pahiatua. The friends of Mrs Hill, Totara Street, Masterton, will regret to learn of the death of her mother, Mrs Everett, who passed away at her residence, Motueka, on Saturday. Mr W. B. Manning, of Karori, Wellington, who died recently was a well kown officer of the Live Stock Division, Department of Agriculture. He was 64 years of ago.
The engagement is announced of Dorothy, daughter of Mr and Mrs G. Brown, Renall Street, and Lewis, son of Mr and Mrs A. E. Hubbard, Tarawa Street, Masterton.
The engagement is announced of Joan, elder daughter of the late Staff Sergeant W. Marshall, 2nd N.Z.E.F., and Mrs Marshall, Featherston, to Arthur Oliver, third son of Mi’ and Mrs K. G. A. McKenzie, Featherston. Mr P. Doyle, of Master ton, a member of the Royal Navy, has had to enter the Wellington Public Hospital to undergo an operation for injuries received from an accident while serving as a naval gunner on a merchant ship in the Middle East.
An enjoyable evening was spent at the residence of Mr and Mrs G. Brown, Renall Street, Masterton, on Saturday, in honour of the coming of age of Private Douglas Gordon. Games, competitions and dancing were enjoyed and a presentation was made to the guest of the evening. A number of other soldiers were also entertained. The death has occurred of Mr James Long Gilmour, superintendent of the Martha Gold Mining Company, Waihi, Ltd., for some years and mine manager since 1903, who took over the position on the retirement of his father, the late Thomas Gilmour, who was the second mayor of Waihi. He was born in Thames and was 66 years of age.
