SHORTAGE OF MATCHES
BECOMING SEVERE IN BRITAIN. INCREASING PRODUCTION OF LIGHTERS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.0 a.m.) RUGBY, August 28. Match consumption in Britain is at about half the pre-war level, but a severe shortage is now anticipated. The output of utility lighters has reached 80,000 during the past two weeks and it is hoped soon to reach the target figure of 100,000 a week.
