CAUSING DELAY
DEFECTIVE ADDRESSING OF PARCELS FOR PRISONERS OF WAR. STATEMENT BY INQUIRY OFFICE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Prisoners of War Inquiry Office in Wellington states that the neglect of some next-of-kin to study the official brochure is likely to hold up the censoring of parcels, because very large numbers are coming in with the name and address of the sender not on the Red Cross label, acknowledgment cards not enclosed and the duplicate contents slips either entirely left out or only one filled in. A cablegram received from the R,ed Cross Commissioner in the Middle East announces that personally addressed parcels from Cairo to New Zealand prisoners of war are now totally prohibited. Acknowledgments of quarterly parcels are now coming in freely This week alone 280 cards have been received, practically all of them from Stalag 88. The office requests next of kin to forward copies only of any letters they may have received from Camp P.G.58, written in April or at the end of March. The number of officially notified prisoners of war is now 6,213, with 12 unofficial.
