Mrs E. J. Jenkins, Renall Street, Masterton, is staying at Paraparaumu Beach. Mrs Stanley Lamb, Solway, is staying with her sister, Mrs J. Mills, Day’s Bay, Wellington. Miss Ruth Hindley, Cambridge Terrace, Masterton, has returned from a visit to Timaru. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Timber Merchants’ Federation this week, Mr A. W. Greig, Auckland, was re-elected president, and Mr D. G. O’Toole, Wanganui, was re-elec-ted vice-president. Executive members elected were: Messrs J. J. Jackson and C. W. Pollard (Auckland), J. Bush and. R. A. Collins (Canterbury), G. Ramsay and J. Grant (Otago), G. Cook and C. Dunn (Wellington), F. G. Beaven and A. E. R. Gilbert (North Island), W. G. Irwin and D. J. Wesney (South Island). Mr Edward Bull, a well-known member of a pioneer family, died at his residence, Goldies Brae, Wellington, on Wednesday, aged 76 years. He was a son of Mr Edward Bull, who was co-editor and one of the proprietors of “The New Zealand Advertiser,” and “Bull’s Wellington Almanack,” published in the late ’so’s of last century, and after leaving school entered the employ of J. Kitchen and Sons, soap manufacturers. In 1893 he joined the staff of the New Zealand Candle Company, which, in 1894, bought out the business of J. Kitchen and Sons. Of the enlarged company, Mr Bull became secretary and manager, and subsequently, managing director. This business was later acquired by Lever Bros, (of which firm Mr Bull was then a local director). He retired from active business seven years ago.
