More than 100 Germans and Italians have been arrested in the past four days in Rio de Janeiro and the nearby Brazilian States, and an additional 1000 have been taken into custody in the outlying States. Venezuela and Colombia have granted non-belligerent status to Brazil. All nine South American countries have now granted non-belligerency recognition to Brazil. The Uruguayan Government has announced Ito Brazil that Uruguay will co-operate in the common defence against possible aggression. The Uruguayan .National Defence Ministry has been! authorised to adopt, in agreement with the Brazilian military authorities, all; measures designed to improve the efficiency of the common defence, and Ui uguay has declared her complete solidarity with Brazil.
