RED CROSS SOCIETY
COUNTRY DISTRICTS. MEETING OF SUB-CENTRE. A meeting of the Country District’s Subcentre of the New Zealand Red Cross was held in the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union room, Masterton, on Wednesday. Pyjamas and pillowcases for making up and wool for cardigans were handed out and members were thanked for having carried on the work of the sub-centre in their own homes. Appreciation was expressed for the help given by the Red Cross Society to those who had lost all their crockery, etc., as the result of the recent earthquakes. Members stated that they were grateful to the hospital visitors for having carried on through difficulties and were glad to hear that the Country Districts V.A.’s were nearly all doing their bit. The offer of the Masterton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers' Union of the use of their room for the weekly sewing bees was accepted and work will commence there next Wednesday at 10.30 a.m.
