EGG MARKETING

NEW CO-OPERATIVE SCHEME. Monday, August 17, saw the advent of a central egg floor for the handling and distribution of all eggs produced in the Canterbury district. This development followed closely upon the purchase by producers of the largest egg distributing business in Christchurch, which with 60 per cent of the eggs under its control will henceforth operate on a purely co-op-erative basis. This new co-opeiativv distributing company has been capitalised at £lO,OOO, which has been subscribed in equal shares by the Canm.bury Co-op. Egg Producers’ Association, Ltd., a company recently formed by egg producers, and the New Zealand co-operative Pig Marketing Association, Ltd., whose subsidiaries manufactured pork products in die South Island.
