SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED
——— TEA IN Y.M.C.A. ROOMS. The ladies of St Matthew’s Guild ,,a free tea. at the Y.M.C.A. Rooms last night for members of the armed forces. There vzas a large attendance. Mr T. A. Russell, who represented the Y.M.C.A., introduced the hostesses. The Ven. Archdeacon E. J. Rich voiced the satisfaction of those who had arranged the tea that they were able to provide the soldiers with a few home comforts. The tables were effectively decorated with spring flowers. The usual devotional service . was conducted and a bracket of songs was contributed by Mrs Moss and two recitations were given by Miss Jaine. Mrs Miller Hope played the piano accompaniments. After a sing song from the Y.M.C.A. hymnal, a series of lantern slides depicting the work of the Sudan Interior Mission and some of the customs of the natives was shown by Mr J. S. Nicholson, a member of the mission at present visiting Masterton. Thanks were expressed on behalf of those entertained at the tea.
